It’s fair to say, I’m no downhiller! When I was in my 20’s there were no such thing as a trail park or a designated downhill run. I just rode my Gary Fisher hardtail and crunched the miles through disused railway lines and forestry commission roads. After an invitation from a work colleague, I visited my closest downhill track, Ribbesford near Bewdley in Worcestershire, just on the edge of the Wyre Forest. It has three tracks named: Old Skool, Rib Tickler and Black Ribs. The tracks are aimed at the intermediate/advanced rider, they are short, sharp and technical, with plenty of ‘chicken runs’ for the less confident of us (me included) and not owning a full face helmet I decided the ‘Old Skool’ was the track of choice. It was a couple of hours well spent and the next visit, definitely deserves an all-dayer!
